Theoretical Quantum Optics and Quantum Information

Education: BSc, MSc, and PhD in Physics, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, 1987, 1996, and 2008, respectively.

Dr. Waldemariam involves in the study of the quantum features of the cavity radiation of a nondegenerate three-level cascade laser for various schemes under di.erent conditions. Particularly, he has been engaged in the study of various aspects of the gener- ated light such as two-mode squeezing, statistical properties, photon number correlations, continuous variable entanglement, quantum discord and violation of Cauchy-Schwarz in- equality. In addition to nondegenerate three-level laser, he has been doing research on radiative aspects (including emission and absorption), squeezing and statistical proper- ties of the light generated by a two-level atom coupled to di.erent reservoir types. Dr. Waldemariam has been also engaged in the study of the quantum features (including entanglement and two-mode squeezing) in the radiation generated during the degenerate parametric down conversion process when the residual pump mode is treated quantum mechanically. Most recently, he has extended the concept of a correlated emission laser and the accompanying approaches to a corresponding nondedegerate Y -shaped four-level system and tripartite entanglement.
