Grades:

The college council offering the course on the recommendation of the department council determines the weightage of the semester course work. The weightage should not be less than (30%) of the final grade of the course.

Administrative Rule of Jazan University:

The college council offering the course upon a recommendation of the department council determines the weightage of the semester course work. The weightage should be between (40%) and (50%) of the final grade of the course.

Article No 23:

The grade for the semester course work is calculated through one of the following two methods:

• Oral or practical examinations or research and other types of other class activities or all or part of these and at least one written examination.

• At least two written examinations. 

Article No 24:

The college council that offers the course can, upon the recommendation of the department council; the final examination should include oral and/or practical examinations and determine the marks allocated to them from final examination marks.  

Article No 25:

The department council which teaches the course upon a recommendation of course instructor allows a student to complete any course’s requirements in the following semester and registered to the student in his/ her academic record as an incomplete grade (IC). In such a case, the grade shall not be included   in the student’s semester or cumulative GPA except the grade the student attains after completing the course’s requirements. And if a full semester elapses and the (IC) grade is not changed, the grade will be replaced by an (F) and included in the student’s semester and cumulative GPA.

Article No 26:

Research and symposia courses or courses of a practical or field nature may be excluded from the provision of articles (22, 23, and 24) or some of which, according to a decision from the college council upon a recommendation of the department council which is in charge of teaching the course. The college council has the right to measure the student’s achievement in these courses.

Article No 27:

If the study research courses requires more than one study semester, an overall grade of (In Progress) or (IP) will be registered for the student, and after completing the course, the student will be awarded the overall grade. If the student does not complete the course in the allotted time, the department council will register an overall grade of (L) or (IC) in the student’s record.

Article No 28:

The calculation of the grades obtained by the student in each course are as follows:

Executive Rule of Jazan University

The general overall grade for the cumulative GPA upon the student’s graduation, on the assumption that the weightage of the overall grade is out of five (5.00), shall be as follows:

1)    (Excellent): If the cumulative GPA is not less that 4.50 out of 5.00 or 3.50 out of 4.00.

2)    (Very good): If the cumulative GPA is 3.75 to less than 4.50 out of  5.00 or 2.50 to less than 3.50 out of 4.00.

3)    (Good): If the cumulative GPA is 2.75 to less than 3.75 out of  5.00 or 1.75 to less than 2.75 out of  4.00.

4)    (Acceptable): If the cumulative GPA is 2.00 to less than 2.75 out of  5.00 or 1.00 to less than 1.75 out of  4.00.

The general overall grade for the cumulative GPA upon the student’s graduation is on the assumption that the weightage of the overall grade is out of five (5.00).

Article No 30:

The first class honors degree will be awarded to those students who achieve a cumulative GPA between (4.75) and (5.00) out of (5.00) or from (3.75) to (4.00) out of (4.00) upon graduation, the second class honors degree will be awarded to those students who achieve a cumulative GPA greater than (4.25) to less than (4.75) out of (5.00) or from (3.25) to (3.75) out of (4.00) upon graduation

To receive the first or second class honors degree, the student must satisfy the following conditions:

a)     The student must not have failed any of the courses at the University or other universities.

b)    The student must have completed all graduation requirements within a period not exceeding the average period between the maximum and minimum of stay his/her college.

c)     The student must have studied no less than 60% of graduation requirements.

The first or second class honors are awarded to students in accordance with the cumulative GPA of (5.00), and the conditions stated in the provision of the article.
